The award was presented in recognition of the president's merits and initiatives to ensure food security, as well as the development of rural and water management. The Agricola medal was established by the FAO in 1977 for contributions to the fight against hunger.

During the meeting in Tashkent, the parties discussed the current cooperation. 27 joint projects are being implemented, and a new five-year partnership program has been adopted. In addition, Uzbekistan has been elected to the FAO Council for the first time for the period 2028-2029.

Qu Dongyu arrived in the country to participate in the Second Forum on the Development of Agrarian and Food Systems of Developing Landlocked Countries and the World Cotton Day conference. On October 7, the launch of a specialized Agroinnovation Hub is planned in Tashkent.
