Teenager sentenced in Tashkent for fatal hit-and-run of traffic police officer

The court hearing was held behind closed doors. The minor was found guilty under paragraph "d" of part 3 of Article 104 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in the death of the victim). In delivering the verdict, the court also applied Article 85 of the Criminal Code, which regulates the sentencing of minors. The prison term is calculated from the day of detention — February 27, 2026.

According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the incident took place on February 25 in the capital's Mirabad district. Driving a BMW M4, the teenager failed to comply with traffic police officer Khosilbek Eshnazarov's order to stop on Nukus Street, attempted to flee, and hit the inspector. The victim died in the hospital from his injuries.

Following the announcement of the verdict, the parties to the trial were briefed on the appeal procedure, as well as the option to file lawsuits in a civil court to recover material and moral damages.
