Uzbekistan creates unified Ministry of Education and Science

The Ministry of Preschool and School Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation have been reorganized into a single agency. This was announced by the press secretary of the President, Sherzod Asadov.

A corresponding decree was signed by the head of state. The new structure has been named the Ministry of Education and Science.

According to Sherzod Asadov, the reform aims to form a single system of education, upbringing and science based on modern requirements, improve the quality of education and develop human capital. The process involves the integration and continuity of levels of education, the creation of a common management model from kindergartens to universities and the scientific sphere, as well as increased accountability to society.

By decree and resolution of the President, Ilhom Siradzhiev has been appointed Deputy Minister of Education and Science for Compliance and Internal Anti-Corruption Control. Prior to this appointment, he worked as Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration for Education Reform.
