In Uzbekistan, preparation for the privatization of the Uzbekistan GTL plant has begun

In Uzbekistan, the preparation for the privatization of the Uzbekistan GTL plant has begun. This was announced by the director of the Agency for Management of State Assets, Sokhibjon Muradov, at a press conference on October 8.

According to the head of the agency, the concept of privatization of the enterprise is already ready. A financial and economic audit is currently being conducted, and factors negatively affecting the plant's performance are being studied, as well as possible consequences of the deal for the economy, partners, suppliers, and buyers of products.

Muradov emphasized that the launch of the preparation process does not mean the sale of the object exactly within the timeframe specified in the presidential document. The specific dates of the deal or the initial public offering (IPO) have not been announced yet. At the same time, major international organizations have already applied with questions about participating in the IPO.

The Uzbekistan GTL plant was launched in December 2021 and produces synthetic liquid fuel from natural gas. According to Kun.uz, citing the company's official website, as of June 16, 2026, the remaining principal debt on foreign loans under state guarantees was $838.2 million out of $2.3 billion attracted for construction.
