Uzbekistan and Syria to establish joint economic-trade committee

Uzbekistan and Syria signed a memorandum on the creation of a Joint Economic-Trade Committee. This was reported by the national news agency UzA.

The document was signed by Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov and Minister of Economy and Trade of Syria Nidal al-Shaar following bilateral negotiations during the visit of the Syrian delegation.

The committee being created will deal with the exchange of information, search for business opportunities, resolution of current issues and preparation of proposals for the development of trade. Meetings of the structure are planned to be held annually in turn with the involvement of representatives of the private sector.

In addition, on September 19, an Uzbek-Syrian business forum was held in Tashkent with the participation of more than 30 heads of Syrian enterprises from the textile, pharmaceutical, food, chemical and construction materials industries. At the meeting, the General Director of the General Directorate of Exhibitions and International Markets of Syria, Muhammad Hamza, discussed the holding of the "Made in Uzbekistan" exhibition in Damascus and the mutual organization of national pavilions.
