Projects worth $7.6 billion launched in Karakalpakstan

The cost of the 11 launched projects reached $592 million, while the 47 production and infrastructure facilities getting underway total $7 billion (in the headline of Gazeta.uz, the total sum is rounded to $7.5 billion). The implementation of all announced initiatives is expected to create 8,000 jobs.

Among the commissioned capacities are two 300 MW wind power plants with a 100 MW energy storage system in the Karauzyak district, the $27 million 100-bed Sheikh Khalifa City Hospital in Nukus, and the first phase of the $150 million Linkwise data center in the Takhiatash district. A $20 million Sapsan Trans Nokis project to renew the public transport fleet has also begun for Nukus: 25 buses and electric buses have already arrived in the city, with another 75 electric buses expected by the end of the year.

Among the construction projects getting underway are a 1.5 GW wind power plant built by Saudi ACWA Power in the Kungrad district for $2.6 billion, digital currency mining projects and artificial intelligence data centers in the Kungrad and Takhiatash districts worth $2.281 billion, and the reconstruction of 92 km of the A-380 highway for $233 million with ADB support. In Nukus, the project of the New Uzbekistan residential area covering 270 hectares with housing for 30,000 people was also presented.
