Musk confirms Tesla and SpaceX are exploring possible merger

According to Musk, the committees were established at the request of shareholders and consist of independent directors from both companies. He did not disclose their names. Musk himself is not involved in the negotiations due to a conflict of interest. As reported by 3DNews, citing The Verge, the question about the merger was raised by an analyst from Deutsche Bank.

Musk clarified that the committees have not yet agreed on the terms of the deal, so its implementation is not guaranteed. He personally supports the idea: "Do I think it's a good idea? Yes. But ultimately, the shareholders must support it." The merger, he said, would allow the companies to collaborate in artificial intelligence, microchip design, robotics, communications, and cargo delivery to orbit.

From Tesla's side, approval requires support from owners of at least half of all the company's shares, not just those participating in the vote. Musk called this requirement "a fairly difficult obstacle to overcome."

According to an estimate by the Financial Times, cited by Anhor.uz, the market value of SpaceX is around $2 trillion, and Tesla is around $1.5 trillion, together approximately $3.5 trillion (according to 3DNews, more than $3.6 trillion). SpaceX went public in June. Previously, it included the social network X and the AI startup xAI.
